Hoshino from Hoshino Car Style recently purcahsed a cheap RX7 off yahoo auctions which he planned to drive around for a couple weeks or months then sell again. This is quite common thing for Hoshino as hes always looking for new projects to play with. This is just some pictures from the start of the build to the end, enjoy.

So what do we do when we arn’t driving our life size cars? We drift RC cars. We use to have quite a few big RC nights where all the team / friends would get together and battle it out all night. We dont do it as much now days but every now and then we will pull them out for a quick spin around Hoshino’s track at his workshop.

My personal car, I’m not huge on looks but its got a tuned ECU, aftermarket engine, locked front and rear diffs, plastic / rubber mix tires for higher speed drifting and bad ass scando flicks, something you can’t do running normal hard plastic tires.

Its the start of an insane weekend and to kick it off is the heart stopping breeze that brushes across you skin instantly waking you up from your slumber. Its a weekend like no other, its Ebisu Drift Matsuri! Three events a year held at the world famous Ebisu circuit over the course of 2 days, ohhh did I forget to mention 2 days 32 hours non stop drifting from sunrise to sunset. Ebisu is scattered with more tracks in one location then you could ever dream of and filled with hundreds of people all with the same passion for drifting.

There is no event on this earth that can compare to the pure insanity that happens at a Drift Matsuri, the countless crashes and cars rolling around on their roofs, the people you meet and friends you make all come together to make one event you will never forget.

Past couple of months I have seen quite a few cars roll in and roll out oh Hoshino’s workshop, here are 2 of the boys car from Team Geki (Geki Kassou Dan). They were running close tandems at Nikko when another car spun infront of Koro’s S14.5 and well his car along with Pant’s car could not pull up in time and contact was made, quite a bad crash damage wise.

Say Japan and the next word you think of is Touge and we have plenty of it around Gunma. Gunma was made famous by the well known manga series Initial D and its easy to see why this manga series was based around Gunma due to the large amount of bordering mountains and the touge it contains.

When I first landed in Japan I refused to buy a car that I could get back in Australia, for me there is no fun in modifying a car that I have already owned or I have seen parked on every corner street so I set out on the hunt for a JZX100. I slowly started to notice that the JZX100 was parked on every corner street in Japan and at any local track day they would make up the large majority of cars in the field. This coupled with the fact they have a chassis about as rigid as banana and after one good crash it would also be shaped like a banana my good friend Hoshino from Hoshino Car Style told me a JZX90 would be the best bet due to the smaller numbers seen on track days and a much stronger and stiffer chassis design, I agreed as he would be the one fixing my car when I crashed it.
